    BOILEROOM STAGE AT HASLEMERE FRINGE 2024

    Guildford-based independent music venue, The Boileroom are announced as partners of the Haslemere Fringe. Bringing a range of diverse and emerging artists to the festival on Saturday 6th July.

    Although well-known for hosting iconic headliners in Haslemere, the ethos of Fringe is to support local and emerging talent and be inclusive to people of all ages and backgrounds.

    The Boileroom is known for supporting local developing vibrant, accessible, and forward-thinking initiatives, and bringing audiences some of the most diverse and talented artists across all genres of contemporary music.  At the 2024 Fringe, the Boileroom stage will host:

    • Brighton jangle-psych band ‘Hutch
    • Fuzzy melodrama / psychedelic western group ‘The Motor Show
    • Five-piece art rock band ‘shtepi’
    • Still Me, SKYE, Lola Rose and Noah Fenton.

It has been so fun curating a Boileroom-style line up for Haslemere Fringe and we can’t wait for you to see some fantastic local showstopping talent.     DANIEL BEDINGFIELD IS BACK! HEADLINER FOR SATURDAY AT HASLEMERE FRINGE 2024

    Celebrating 20 years of his classic album ‘Gotta Get Thru This’, global pop icon Daniel Bedingfield is announced to complete the line-up for Saturday 6th July at the Haslemere Fringe.

    Kiwi born and South London raised Daniel Bedingfield is a multi-platinum award-winning singer, songwriter and record producer who became one of the most beloved pop artists of his generation.

    His debut album and Grammy nominated single, ‘Gotta Get Thru This’ became an instant international hit. As well as helping to push garage into the mainstream, Daniel spawned numerous hit singles, including the iconic pop ballad ‘If You’re Not the One’ and iconic songs ‘Never Gonna Leave Your Side’, ‘Nothing Hurts like Love’ and ‘James Dean’.

    In 2004, Daniel won a BRIT Award for Best British Male Artist and released a second album, “Second First Impression” which reached number 8 in the UK. Shortly after his career was put on hold when he almost lost his life in a car accident, but he continued to write songs for other artists, including Pixie Lott and X Factor winner, Ben Haenow.

    Since moving to LA and travelling the world the last few years, Daniel has been a judge on The X Factor New Zealand, performed with Fred Again in NYC and has been working on new music.

  • REBECCA FERGUSON – SATURDAY AFTERNOON SPECIAL GUEST AT HASLEMERE FRINGE 2024

    Rebecca Ferguson

    With less than 100 days until the start of the Haslemere Fringe Festival, critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Rebecca Ferguson is the latest star announced to perform on Saturday 6th July.

    Born in Liverpool, Rebecca came to prominence in 2010 when she appeared on the hit TV show ‘The X Factor’ and is known for singles including ‘Nothing’s Real but Love’ and ‘Glitter & Gold’. She is a notable songwriter and has co-written four solo albums: Heaven, Freedom, Lady Sing the Blues and Superwoman.  Her debut album ‘Heaven’ was a massive success, selling over 130,000 copies in its first week and going two times platinum in the UK.

    Described by The Telegraph as “In the same league as Aretha Franklin…Rich, tender, soulful… with sass and feeling” She has been nominated for two MOBO Awards and one MTV Europe Music Award.

    Over the past 10 years Rebecca has performed with some of the most legendary names in the music industry, including Lionel Ritchie, Andrea Bocelli, Burt Bacharach and John Legend, among others. Rebecca is currently in the process of writing and recording her fifth studio album with multiple Grammy Award winning producer, Nile Rodgers.

    Multimillion selling BRIT Award winners Blue will play out the last night, Sunday 7th July, of one of the South of England’s best-known festivals – The Haslemere Fringe.

    Since forming in London in the year 2000 and achieving their first hit ‘All Rise’ in 2001, Antony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe, more widely known as Blue, have sold 15 million records worldwide. In the UK they’ve had 3 number 1 albums, 10 top 10 singles (including 3 number 1’s), won Brit and MTV Awards and sung with Elton John and Stevie Wonder.

    Their debut album also called ‘All Rise’ hit number 1 and spawned 4 top 10 singles, including the number 1’s ‘Too Close’, ‘if you come back’ and the excellent ‘Flyby’.

    The boys followed up their successful debut with more huge albums, including ‘One Love’ featuring the number 1 lead track also called ‘One Love’ and follow up singles ‘U Make Me Wanna’ and ‘Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word’ with Elton John. The album was certified 4 x platinum in the UK.

    Although Blue never split up, they decided to take an extended break to pursue solo interests in music and acting, until Eurovision called in 2011. Further albums and tours followed, including the album ‘Heart and Soul’ which was released in 2022.

    In October 2023 Blue announced that they would be embarking on their ‘Greatest Hits’ tour with many dates for 2024, including the London Palladium, already selling out.

  • Last-minute line-up change: TOPLOADER CONFIRMED FOR HASLEMERE FRINGE 2022

    Legendary rock band ‘Toploader’ have been added to the Saturday night line-up of the Haslemere Fringe after Since September pulls out.

    Since forming in 1997, Toploader have over two million album sales to their name and a string of top 20 hits both home and abroad. Their single ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ became a global hit in 2000 spending over a year in European Airplay Charts transforming Toploader into a household name. In 2013 the same track re-entered the Top 40 for three weekends and topped the 10,000,000 hits mark on YouTube, an incredible thirteen years after it was first released, cementing it as one of the biggest songs of recent times.

    With a reputation as a genuine crowd-pleasing live band Toploader have appeared at a host of festivals including Glastonbury, V-Festival and T in the Park and backed the likes of Paul Weller, Robbie Williams, Noel Gallagher, Tom Jones, Simple Minds and Bon Jovi, where they became the last British band to play the original Wembley Stadium.

    Festival Coordinator, Paul Ashton says, “We’re naturally disappointed to change our line-up at such a late stage, but also delighted that Toploader will be joining us. They’re bound to get everyone up dancing and singing along”.

    Other weekend headliners for the 2022 Haslemere Fringe have already been announced as Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Feeling and Sleeper. They join comedians such as Seann Walsh, Cally Beaton and Fiona Allen, dance artists including Motionhouse and Anna Daly (Finalist, BBC Young Dancer 2022) and a host of emerging young talent from across the south of England.

  • Clarendon Fine Arts supports the Fringe with a silent art auction

    We’re delighted to announce that Clarendon Fine Art have donated a limited-edition print which will be put up for silent auction to raise funds for the Haslemere Fringe Festival.

    The highest bidder in the auction will become the proud owner of a limited edition giclee print of an original painting, ‘Poetry in the Meadow’ by Sherree Valentine Daines, who has been at the forefront of British art for over 35 years and has been described as ‘the face of Modern British Impressionism’.

    Her exquisite paintings have been exhibited at prestigious venues such as the Tate Gallery, the Barbican and the Lord’s Museum and are held in many private collections all over the world. Daines’ unique style has made her a favourite with many celebrity collectors including members of the British Royal Family and Sir Ranulph Fiennes.

    Daines’ art frequently captures quintessentially British summer events and she is also well known for her enchanting images of childhood, of which ‘Poetry in the Meadow’ is a fine example.

    BOOMANIA COMES TO THE FRINGE

    The team behind the Haslemere Fringe are delighted to announce the signing of Betty Boo for the 2022 festival. Betty is a Brit and Ivor Novello Award winning singer, songwriter and pop-rap artist who first came to mainstream prominence in the late 1980s, following a collaboration with The Beatmasters on the song “Hey DJ/I Can’t Dance”. Between 1990 and 1992 she enjoyed a successful solo career, which spawned a number of chart-placing singles, most notably “Doin’ the Do” and “Where Are You Baby?“.

    Now back in 2022 with new singles “Get me to the Weekend” which is sure to stick in your head, and her latest hit “Shining Star” Betty said, “The muse came back out of nowhere during lockdown and I have made the record I should have made when I was 25”.

    Betty will perform at the Fringe on Sunday, 3rd July, joining artists including Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Bare Jams, Mission Impossible and many more.

    FRINGE DISCO CHICK RULES THE ROOST

    Haslemere has seen beautifully painted Hogs, Hares and Hounds over the last few years as charity fundraisers – and now it’s the turn of Haslemere Hens – with the artistic team from Canvassing Happiness creating The Disco Chick for the Haslemere Fringe Festival as well as decorating other Hens for good causes!

    Canvassing Happiness, run by Zoe Oliver and Sophie Claret, provides a wide range of art classes and workshops for both children and adults in Surrey and Hampshire.  “Around eight of our talented students, aged between 6 and 14 were involved with the design and painting of the Disco Chick,” said Zoe.  “We all had great fun in the process, which stimulated creativity and artistic imagination across all those involved in this project.”

    The Disco Chick name and theme, not only headlines the fabulous Kitchen Disco Dance Queen, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who will be playing out the Festival on Sunday 3rd July, but also reflects the inclusive ethos of the Fringe, embracing disco as an iconic dance form.

    Sophie will be invited to sign the Disco Chick and all monies raised from the Chick at the Haslemere Hens auction will go to the Fringe Festival partner charity, The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

    FRINGE SESSIONS FUNDRAISER FOR UKRAINE

    The team behind the Haslemere Fringe Festival are proud to announce that last Saturday’s newly formed Fringe Sessions gig, which promotes local emerging and original talent on the first Saturday of each month, attracted over 120 people and raised an incredible £1,400 for the Ukraine Support Appeal!

    Taking place at the popular Shottermill Club, near Lion Green, this upbeat evening includes performances by multiple live bands followed by a DJ set until 1am.

    The March line-up was opened by Big Red Sky, an amazing 8-piece band aged between 9 and 17, followed by local favourite Eloise Carter, young female-fronted group, Creature of Habit, an acoustic set from Yellowlees, and alternative rock band, Risking Nostalgia. The evening was rounded off by a set from local DJ, Louis Vass.

    All the performers and the Shottermill Club kindly donated their fees which, combined with the £5pp entrance tickets and very generous private donations, culminated in the significant contribution to the Ukraine Support Appeal.

    The Shottermill Club is a family friendly social club situated on the main road between Wey Hill and Hindhead in Haslemere. Open 7 days a week, the club’s facilities include a function room with stage and bar (where the Sessions will be held), 2 full size Snooker tables, a Pool table, Darts boards, Sky Sports and a large Lounge area with bar.  Membership per person is £25 for the first year and £20 thereafter and allows members to enjoy a heavily subsidised bar.

  • EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUNG VIDEOGRAPHERS

    To help support our young creative community, Haslemere Fringe is funding a project with partners The Music Works and Jellytree Productions, offering students an amazing opportunity to film major artists at this year’s Haslemere Fringe Festival on 1st-3rd July.

    As part of the opportunity, successful candidates aged 15-19 will join the Jellytree Production team at The Music Works for weekly Monday evening sessions where they will learn how to work as part of a production team and how to film bands from The Music Works as they learn. There will also be monthly Saturday live recorded sessions at The Shottermill Club for The Haslemere Fringe Sessions, where students will have further opportunities to build their skillset before the big weekend.

    The programme concludes over 4 days of ‘access all areas’ set-up, live action production, and de-rig at The Haslemere Fringe Festival on 1-3 July 2022 filming live performances on the stage by acts including Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Feeling and Sleeper. The successful candidates will join Jellytree Productions to help operate the live video production on the main stage, displaying both live camera feed with video art, animation and effects.
